Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018

Hi friends! Well the day that all bloggers rave about is finally here! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is when all new Fall merchandise becomes available at a discounted rate, but only for a limited time. If you have a Nordstrom card, you can get early access starting July 12th through July 19th, before it opens to the public on July 20th through August 6th. Now, with every sale, there are always pros and cons- with the #nsale, the pros is the fact that you get huge discounts on great items. The cons is that items sell out FAST. Another thing to consider is that since Nordstrom experiences a high volume of customers going to their site at the same time, sometimes it doesn't always function properly. For example, sometimes the site will crash, and other times, the website will say an item in is stock, so you go to add it in your cart, pay, get a confirmation code, but then you get an alert saying that all or part of your order was cancelled due to it selling out. So I never assume that I am for sure going to get the item I ordered until I get the shipping email. Then I'll know for sure that I'm going to get my item(s). Anyways, let's get to my top picks based on departments.

There is one item that I'm dying to get my hands on...it is currently sold out but I'm going to link it here in case it comes back in stock (I will be checking constantly!).

This concludes my top picks! Let me know if you guys have any questions.

My Top Favorite Bloggers

Hi friends! Wow- it's been a minute, has it not?! My apologies for my lack of posts (if you were missing them ; ), but life has just taken over recently! Anyways, I thought it would be fun to put together a post that is all about my all-time favorite bloggers. Some of these girls I have been following for years, others are kind of new, yet equally as important to me to check out on a daily basis. Now, I'm not going to put these in order of who I like better, because that would be just too hard for me! I can honestly say that I like them all equally the same, but for different reasons. Let's get started...

1. Julia Engel of Gal Meets Glam
How could one not like her beautiful pictures and posts?! She is the very first blogger that I discovered years ago and the one that made me want to become a blogger. I love following along on her and Thomas' adventures : )

2. Kathleen Barnes of Carrie Bradshaw Lied
Kathleen is another blogger that I have been following for years. I remember when I was first started following her, she still had a full time job at Urban Decay and would always bring her cute dog, Bailey, to work with her. She is hilarious and I love that she is a fellow Bravo lover like I am.

3. Kathleen Post of Lemon Blonde
It's been almost a year since I discovered Kathleen Post, and boy am I ever glad that I did! I am seriously obsessed with every post she does.  And I am forever jealous of her naturally blonde hair! I mean yes, I am a natural blonde myself, but not that blonde! I am obsessed with her style, her pictures, and love her try-on hauls and makeup/hair tutorials. I will forever be a life long fan hers : )

4. Daryl-Ann Denner of Something Beautiful
I actually discovered Daryl-Ann by my wedding venue's Instagram. She stayed there one night and they reposted her picture and I just had to follow her! I can relate to her style the most and I pretty much want to buy everything she wears. I also love her makeup tutorials and she posts the prettiest pictures!

5. Aspyn Ovard
Yes, I know that Aspyn is technically considered a YouTuber, but I first discovered her through Instagram! I'm in love with every post she does and her videos are so fun to watch.  If I'm ever in a bad mood, I always watch one of her videos and it never fails to put me in a good mood!

6. Courtney of Bring Your Own Beauty
Besides the pretty pictures that she posts, her daily Insta-Stories are so fun to watch! I feel like I can't go a day without checking out her profile or blog. She is another girl where I pretty much want every outfit she posts. I also love her Trader Joe's hauls and fun snack ideas (raspberries and chocolate chips anyone?!).

7. Deb from Sunsets and Stilettos
Let me just start by saying that I LOVE Deb. Her dry humor, her deep thoughts, and her daily outfits are ones I want in my closet. She goes on another level beyond the title "Fashion Blogger". If you aren't part of her newsletter subscription, I highly recommend it. Yes, she rounds up the best sales, but she also gets deep and whatever she writes, it speaks to me. I also love that she is a fashion blogger, but also an elementary school teacher. She may or may not have triggered me to want to become a teacher : )

8. Jenna Colgrove of Visions of Vogue
I love Jenna for so many reasons. I love her daily work OOTD's and love that she mainly uses only safe beauty brands. She not only shows you how to use products, but goes in deep on why certain toxic chemicals are so bad for you. I feel like I'm getting my fashion fix, but also some educational insight on beauty products.

9. Nichole Ciotti
How could one not like Nichole?! Her Instagram posts are on another level and I just love her style. She is another blogger that I need to check out on a daily basis. I love her Insta-Stories and love following along on all of her adventures!

10. Caitlin from Southern Curls & Pearls
I adore Caitlin and all of her posts. The quality of her photos are amazing and I love that she takes every post seriously and never posts a low-quality photo. Her and her mom are so cute and I'm so jealous that her mom takes all of her photos! I'm also very jealous of her gorgeous hair : )

11. Lauren Kay Sims
I have been following Lauren for a while now and I'm so happy for all of her big life events that have happened to her recently. A few weeks ago she announced that her and husband bought a beautiful house and today she just announced that they are expecting! So, so happy for her. I also love her style and love her beauty product recommendations : )

12. Cara Loren
Another blogger that I have been following for years! It's crazy to think that when I first started following her, she had one kid and was pregnant with her second. Now, she is expecting a third (& it's a girl!). I can't wait to see a little girl version of her. She is the cutest and has the best beauty picks!

13. Emily Herren of Champagne & Chanel
Emily is so fun to follow along! She posts the prettiest outfits and really makes me want to venture out of my casual outfit game (I'm not much of a heels and dress fan). I love catching up on her Insta-Stories and her fun travel adventures.

Well, that does it for my top favorite bloggers! Now, of course there other bloggers that I love to follow but these girls just have a special place in my little (or big) blogger heart haha. I hope you guys enjoyed this post! Who are your favorite bloggers? Do we have any in common? Let me know in the comments!

Stripes & an Olive Green Cardigan

Hi friends! So I took a little break on Instagram and on the blog...maybe you noticed, maybe you didn't. But that's okay, I just wanted to take the time to decide on how I want to change up my feed. I've been thinking for a while that I just need to make some sort of change and I wanted to make sure I made the right decision before I executed the change. I know, some of you might be thinking to yourselves "It's just Instagram, what's the big deal?!" But to me, it is so much more than that, and I'm also thinking of it on a business perspective. With that said, I've purchased a new set of presets from Aspyn Ovard (Obsessed with her!) and I'm excited for the new change on my feed! I know a lot of bloggers never share how they edit their pictures or what filters they use, but I am pretty open about this so just let me know if you ever have any questions about my pictures. I also want to start doing more scenic pictures, rather than only posting outfit pictures of myself. There is nothing wrong with that, I just prefer to show more sides of me instead only pictures of me in different outfits. This might entail pictures of a latte I ordered, or a beach shot...pretty much anything that inspires me.  I've also started to really hold back on purchasing new clothes from my favorite retailers and instead, have started to purchase more used clothing and shoes (like on eBay and Poshmark). It's been hard, but I'm happy with the change and like how I'm not spending as much money as I normally do. Have you ever made a change like this? Let me know in the comments below! Okay moving on to the outfit details...

I wanted to bring you guys this look that is one of my favorites. It's simple, casual, and perfect for weekend errands. This green cardigan is so soft and has that stretchy (not too thin) material which makes it even more comfortable. It also has pockets, which is always a plus for me. The striped, long sleeve top that I am wearing is from Nordstrom and is also super comfortable. I'm wearing an XS in it, but could have even gone to a smaller size because it does run big. The jeans that I'm wearing here are one of my favorite pair of high waisted jeans. However, I did get them about a year ago so they are no longer available, but I will link a few similar pairs. For a size reference, I normally wear a size 26 in jeans (also keep in mind that I am 5'4). I've been on a slip-on sneaker kick lately and I recently added this pair of Vans to my collection. They are definitely the kind of pair that go with everything. As of right now, they are sold out but the color option is called "Silver Lining/Blanc de Blanc". I also wear a size 6 in shoes.

On a different note, I also wanted to fill you guys in on a life update I have... For a while now, I have been pondering heavily on what I want to do with my life. Yes, it would be fun/amazing to have a successful blog that I could live off of, but unfortunately, that is just not realistic for me (maybe one day : )). If you didn't already know, I have a part-time job where I work with kids in an after school program within the local school district that I live in. I primarily work with Kindergartners and first graders, but will work with k's through fifth graders during winter/spring/summer breaks. I love my job, but obviously can't make a living off of it. I also don't want to leave to child setting for say, a corporate job at a desk...That is just not me. I am definitely a passion person, meaning I can't just find any job, I have to be passionate about it. With heavy thinking and multiple people always telling me that I would be a great teacher, I have decided to go back to school to get my Master's and teaching credentials to become an elementary school teacher (yay!). I kind of always had a feeling that I would eventually become a teacher, but I always put it on the back burner and always said no whenever someone would bring it up (especially my mom). I think I was mostly scared of the parents I would have to encounter while being a teacher. But I realized that there will always be at least one aspect of any job that someone doesn't like, and that you just have to deal with it. I'm excited and scared for this journey ahead of me, but I feel like it is the right path for me. I will leave it at that because this has turned into a really long blog post! If you've read all of this til the end, THANK YOU! & leave me a comment to let me know ; )

Until next time! xoxo

28 Facts About Me

Hi friends! Today is my 28th birthday so I thought it would be fun to do a post with 28 facts about me. It's been a while since I've done a post where I've shared facts about myself, so I thought now would be a good time to do one... Let's get started : )

1. I'm a huge sports fan. Football, basketball, and baseball are my favorites. Dodgers and Lakers are my teams. Now that LA has two football teams, it's still hard to say what team I root for, but if I had to choose, I would go with the Rams because it's just too weird to me that the Chargers aren't part of San Diego anymore. And yes, I am an avid Fantasy Football player : )
2. I'm a big Diet Coke lover.
3. I love cars. When I was a teenager, I could name every make/model/year of any car I saw. I'm still pretty good at it, but was definitely better at it when I was younger.
4. I've been an aunt since I was 6. I have two older half brothers (16 & 18 years older than me) and one of them started having kids when he was 21. Today, I have two nephews and one niece; their ages are 21, 20, and 17.
5. I love high speed pursuits. Since I live near LA, these tend to happen on a weekly basis and I just can't stop watching them once they start!
6. I am a first generation Californian. My dad is from Arkansas and my mom is from Upstate New York (Buffalo area).
7. I have 14 blood related aunts and uncles (as in not through marriage). My mom was number 3 out of 4 kids, and my dad was number 7 out of 12 kids. However, I can't even tell you all of their names. I also have no idea how many cousins I have.
8. I did competitive cheerleading and dance from the time I was 2 up until 17.
9. I learned to drive when I was 12. One day, I'll do a blog post on the reason why, I just need some more time before I get too personal on here and share my story : )

10. I've never lived in a house without animals. Dogs and cats are a must for me! P.S.-We rescue all of our animals.
11. I am not a fan of movies. I rarely watched them as a kid and never watch them now. Luckily, Chris feels the same way so we never go to the movies or watch them at home.
12. I take care of my parents who both have different forms of Dementia. I'm going to try and open up more about this in future blog posts : ).
13. I love beer! It's my alcoholic drink of choice. And yes, even at my wedding, I was a "bride with a beer!" as people told me haha.
14. I've only been to three different countries other than the US; Mexico, United Kingdom (London), and Canada (multiple times for Canada).
15. I can't stand the phrase "Stinking Cute". But really, you will never hear me say this!

16. I've had two eye surgeries when I was 21. This is a long story and I will spare you the details because it is not all that pretty...BUT, I was born with horrible vision. I started wearing glasses in the first grade and I hated them. I was sooo self conscious about them. I finally started wearing contacts in my freshmen year of high school but they were also a pain. I heard so much about Lasik eye surgery so I wanted to know more about it. Well, my eyes were so bad that I didn't even qualify for Lasik at first. My doctor couldn't even tell me what my vision was because it was so bad. Let me explain; Perfect vision is 20/20, Legally blind is 20/200, the scale goes up to 20/400, and I was beyond the scale. So my first surgery was called ICL surgery. It is when they put an implantable contact lens behind the colored part of your eye. This was actually a pretty painless surgery (and yes, you are awake during eye surgeries). The next morning, I woke up and I could actually see! It was a miracle, like I could even see in the shower for the first time ever. It was life changing to say the least. But three months later, I had Lasik on just my right eye where I have an astigmatism.  This surgery was extremely painful and unfortunately, something went wrong. I will leave it at that but I will say that everything ended up okay. Today, my vision is still sooo much better than what it used to be, but I still have a pair of prescription glasses that I use when I'm either driving at night or need to see writing that is far away. Wow, sorry that was so long! I just felt I had to explain why I've had two eye surgeries.

17. If you haven't noticed, I'm a huge coffee lover! It is a daily must for me. I typically have 2-3 cups a day.
18. I can't stand it when people stick their tongue out for either a picture (to try and be cute) or in person. It seriously makes me want to vomit when I see it and have to immediately look away.
19. I love pizza! I have it at least two times a week haha.
20. I'm a very quite and shy person at first, and it's sometimes hard for me to open up to people.
21. For the past five years (2012-2017), I have had a headache/migraine everyday. But really, everyday. I tried everything; prescription drugs, hospital stays, ER visits, Botox, acupuncture, countless doctor visits, diet changes, you name it, and I've tried it. The one and only thing that worked for me was peppermint oil. It was a temporary fix, but I never went anywhere without (I still don't, just in case). My headaches only recently started going away when my dentist suggested that I get a mouth guard because it appeared that I was clenching my teeth at night (I had no idea that I did this). It's been a few months and it truly has made a difference for my headaches (hooray!).
22. The first time I ever had buffalo wings was in Buffalo, New York (is this a cool fact or no??) lol.
23. My first car was a 1992 Toyota Camry.
24. My first job was at Baskin Robbins when I was 16.

25. I never learned to play an instrument as a kid, and honestly, I'm kind of bummed about it. However, I listened to music so much as a kid that I can play a pretty tune on the piano and even a basic tune on the drums. One of my childhood friends had a lot of instruments in her house and that is where I picked up how to play.
26. I'm a big reality TV fan, so much that I do not watch one scripted show. My favorites are The Real Housewives (specifically the OC, Beverly Hills, and Potomac), anything with Jeff Lewis, Million Dollar Listing, Ladies of London (please tell me this isn't cancelled!), and anything with Andy Cohen. But no, I do not watch the Bachelor/Bachelorette! Oh, and I love House Hunters on HGTV : )
27. I have never been to Chick-fil-A. And I'm not dying to go either because I don't like to patronage a business that is against same sex marriage (everyone deserves to be loved and accepted!).
28. I have never been on a cruise and never want to go on one! I just feel like Titanic is going to happen if I ever go on one...am I the only one that feels like this?!

Well that concludes the 28 facts about me in honor of my 28th birthday! That was actually a lot harder than I thought! Sorry it was a little long but I hope you guys enjoyed it! P.S. let me know if we have anything in common in the comments below! Have a great day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I know Valentine's Day gets a bad rep, but I've always loved it especially as a kid and even as an adult! Not sure if it's because my birthday is a few days after it, but either way, I'm a fan : ). I remember as a kid, my dad would always bring my sister and I some chocolate and flowers when he would get home from work every Valentine's Day. He still did it up until a few years ago when he was diagnosed with Dementia... Anyways, I wanted to share this comfy and casual look for Valentine's Day (can you tell I'm a big fan of comfy?!). The red heart sweatshirt I'm wearing can be found here, however it is currently sold out but hopefully will be restocked soon. This is also a great option for a cute heart sweatshirt that is in stock. I got it from www.ilycouture.com and if you sign up for their e-mail list, you get 15% off your first purchase. I'm wearing a size small here but wish I would have sized up to a medium because it is a little snug.

Also, I'm sure you can't tell but I actually took these pictures at the resort where Chris and I got married ( at Westlake Village Inn). It is such a beautiful property and I highly recommend staying there if you ever find yourself in the area. And if your wondering what I got Chris for our first Valentine's Day as a married couple, I got him this amazing heart shaped photo montage from Minted filled with pictures from our wedding. I haven't received it yet but I will try and post it on my Insta-Stories when I get it : )

Hope you guys have a great Valentine's Day! Thanks for stopping by : )

Express Cami

Caslon Knit Sweater Coat
Express Cami
Blondo Booties
1822 Denim
Hi friends, happy February! I felt like January dragged on for far too long, so I'm very happy to see February finally come, especially because it is my birthday month : ) Today I wanted to share a simple, yet classy look that can be worn either up or down. It could also be a good Valentine's Day outfit, but I would switch out the jeans for a pair of black pants and some heels. I'm wearing this Express cami that seems to be everywhere at the moment. I'm wearing it in the color maroon and in an XS. This Caslon knit sweater coat (also comes in black) is a great wardrobe addition. I can definitely see myself wearing it with several other outfits. I'm also wearing a pair of jeans from my favorite jean company 1822 Denim (can be found at Nordstrom). For the boots, I'm wearing one of my favorite pairs that I know I have talked about before. They are from the company Blondo and I now want to buy more pairs from this company because they are that good! Click the images below to shop this look : )

Checkered Blanket Scarf

Today I wanted to share this cozy blanket scarf because I feel that the blanket scarf season is coming to an end soon (at least for us Californian's!). Besides the fact that this scarf is soft and cozy, the plus is that I also have a discount code for you guys! Head to www.ilymix.com and use my code "Bri_20" to get 20% off your order. I decided to pair the scarf with this TopShop sweater (wearing US size 6) and my favorite pair of black pants. I'm not going to lie, I've actually had this pair of pants for years now and the brand is called Just Black Denim. I bought this pair at a local boutique near where I live called Frenzy (I don't even think they have a website). With that said, I don't think you can buy their products online, but I will try and link some similar pairs. I also paired this look with my favorite pair of mules from the Kristin Cavallari X Chinese Laundry Collection. These were a little bit of a splurge for me but I couldn't stop thinking about them so I finally made the purchase and I don't regret it at all.

That's all for today! As always, let me know if you guys have any questions : )
