Leather & Lace: A Casual Look

Happy Wednesday, friends!  Today I’m talking about one of my favorite casual looks that involve both leather and lace.  Perfect combo, right?  This is a look that I didn’t necessarily plan, it just kind of happened once I received this sweater from my fiancĂ©, Chris, as a Christmas present.  I’ve been eyeing this sweater for months...every time I walked through Nordstrom I saw it and had an instant “Heart-Eyed Emoji” look across my face and knew I had to have it one day.  I just couldn't get over the bottom lace detail.

And if you couldn't tell, I'm a big fan of Nordstrom, it's one of my favorite stores! I either go in there to shop, or to dine at their restaurant, Blue Stove (you must try it out if you haven't already!).  Anyways... Once I received it, I tried it on with a pair of jeans and to be honest, it just didn’t look right, at least not with the dark denim pair that I was wearing.  So, I thought of wearing it with a pair of faux leather leggings that I got from Forever 21 awhile back.  Then, I threw on a few other items of clothing that I already had in my closet and fell in love with the look.  It’s edgy, but not too edgy.. Girly, but not too girly..You know what I mean?  Not to mention that it’s also super comfy and casual!  The perfect outfit for lunch, out on the town, errands, or where ever your little heart takes you : )<3 p="">

The leather jacket I'm wearing is also from Forever 21 and is of course faux leather.  The sunnies are H&M.  Shoes and handbag are Steve Madden.  I actually got the bag years ago so I don't believe it's available anymore, but if you do find it, please enlighten me : )  But can we talk about these shoes??

These Steve Madden, quilted leather slip-ons are officially my new favorite pair of shoes! These are another item that I was eyeing for months, but was hesitant on purchasing.  Once I received them, I thought to myself, "What was I waiting for?!"  They are comfortable, cute, and I wear them all the time.  Now, I'm even considering getting them in different colors!

So, there you have it!  The perfect combination of leather and lace. Don't forget, you can shop this look by clicking on "Shop" located at the top of the header on my blog.  Questions? Comments? Feel free to leave a comment below! Thanks for reading and have a great day : )

My Favorite Foundation Duo

Hi friends! Welcome to my first blog post! Today I want to talk about my favorite foundation duo and why I love it so much.  First off, I’m going to talk about my favorite primer.  If you didn’t already know (and please don’t feel embarrassed if you don’t know!), primer is the key in order to make your foundation last longer, as well as providing a smooth surface during application.  Being that there are so many different kinds of primers out there, it’s hard to choose one that caters to your unique skin needs.  Personally, I love a primer that is more of a “moisturizer” rather than a thick formula that feels like it’s sitting on top of your skin.  I also have a lot of color correcting needs like redness, dark spots, and overall uneven skin tone.  Stila’s “One Step Correct” helps tremendously to keep my skin concerns at bay with their triple-swirled helix serum.  The serum has three main colors that work together to even out your complexion.  The green tone helps to neutralize redness, the lavender tone helps for a more awaken and energized look, while the peach tone helps to brighten your skin and hide the appearance of sun spots.  Seems like a win-win to me! I first purchased the travel size version of this primer, just so I could test it out before I made a full size purchase.  This primer was an instant hit for me and I use it on a daily basis.  You can purchase it here.

Now that we’re primed up and ready to go, I’ll tell you about my new favorite foundation that I only recently discovered.  I first thought of trying this foundation after I viewed a picture of myself (& others) that was taken indoors at night, and with a flash camera.  The results? Clearly concealed under eyes and the rest of my face was BRIGHT RED.  As if I wasn’t even wearing any face makeup! I was appalled, and knew that there had to be a product out there that worked under any kind of lighting.  Behold Smashbox’s Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Hydrating Foundation.  I’m all about testing products out before I make a purchase, so I walked into my local Sephora and asked one of their beauty consultants which shade they recommended for me (because I’m horrible at trying to decide what shade is best for my skin).  I got my sample and tried it on a few days later and immediately fell in love with it!  I’m all about “matte” products and stay away from ones that tend to be “glossy” or “dewey” or “luminous” because I’m just not into any type of shine.  This Smashbox foundation is matte with medium to full coverage which I love.  I also tend to have dry skin and this foundation is hydrating enough where I feel comfortable to wear it all day long and it also doesn’t look “cakey” after a few hours. It also doubles as being sweat and humidity resistant, which is a major benefit for me! Lastly, I'm proud to say that this product is CRUELTY-FREE! So stay calm, and know that no innocent animals were harmed during the making of this product.  Yay!
